Our Process

AT BILTWOOD POWDER COATINGS, WE TAKE PRIDE IN DELIVERING HIGH-QUALITY POWDER COATING SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS IN WAYNESBORO, PA, AND SURROUNDING AREAS.

To ensure flawless results, it’s essential that all parts meet the following requirements before coating:

Items cannot contain bondo or filler, as these materials are not suitable for powder coating.

Parts must be clean, free of oil, grease, or any contaminants.

Items must be disassembled, with all bearings, seals, gaskets, bushings, and similar components removed. If disassembly or assembly is required, additional charges will apply.

Chemical Pre-Treatment and surface preparation

To ensure the best adhesion and durability, we use chemical pre-treatment and abrasive media to prepare your parts for powder coating. It is the responsibility of the customer to thoroughly clean all parts before assembly. Although all threaded holes are plugged, we recommend that they be tapped. BPC is not responsible for the failure of any part due to improper cleaning.

The most common way of applying the powder coating to metal objects is to spray the powder using an electrostatic gun, or corona gun. This gun imparts a negative charge to the powder, which is then sprayed toward a grounded metal object using compressed air or mechanical force. The electrostatic charge accelerates the powder particles, ensuring they adhere evenly to the surface before curing.

The object is then heated, in our 20ft long oven, the powder melts into a uniform film, and is then cooled to form a hard coating. Our new oven can accommodate a whole car frame. Large objects are not a problem, give us a call!
